BAD HABITS IN UAEM STUDENTS

University students have inadequate habits for their health and academic performance, which imply high percentages of sedentary lifestyle and low physical activity, intake of junk products and low consumption of fruits and vegetables, little care for their oral health, in addition to presenting sleep disorders.

Some bad habits that college students have are:

1. Do not make the first meal of the day, breakfast. Since some of us prefer to sleep a little longer and avoid breakfast.

2. We eat heavy and greasy things, since most of the times it is cheaper to buy some tacos, some quesadillas etc than to buy a glass of fruit or bring our own food.

3. Eat too much candy between classes, cookies or drinks that contain a lot of sugar instead of natural water.

4. Sometimes we don't even eat and wait to get home to eat and eat quite heavy since we skip breakfast.

5. We do not carry out physical activities, something that is even worse because we are sedentary and have bad eating habits.

Some tips that we can include are:

  1. Try not to eat junk food
  2. Drink lots of water
  3. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day
  4. Avoid eating sweets and soft drinks
  5. Eat more fruits and vegetables
  6. Eat a balanced diet
